Lucy Hurd's scheme to organise away-days across Herefordshire saw Weobley Residents have a free trip to Eastnor Castle, thanks to the owners and Matt Lane of Leominster Taxis.

With so many tourist attractions across our county, Lucy Hurds and the Lib Dems have set up a scheme to give local community groups a well-deserved day out in Herefordshire.

The first of these trips saw a group of residents from Weobley enjoy a free visit to Eastnor Castle (courtesy of the owners), with transport provided free of charge by Matt Lane of Leominster Taxis.

"The group raised over £1000 for their local doctors' surgery, and I felt that their project deserved recognition and a real 'thank you'," said Lucy Hurds.

If there is a local group that you think would like a day at a Herefordshire attraction, give Lucy a call on 07827 011611 or email on lhurds@aol.com with your suggestions. From residents' associations to charity groups, all are welcome.

Receiving the backing of the Hereford Journal which will help advertise the away-day venues, Lucy is working to find as many ideas as possible for this scheme, such as historic sites, away days to other towns and public gardens.
