Opposition Anger at sale of Council Farm Smallholdings.

3.40.46pm GMT Mon 19th Jan 2009

Senior members of the Independent and Liberal Democrat groups have written to the Chief Executive of Herefordshire Council to express their anger and opposition to the selling of nearly 10% of the Councils small farms.

This marks the end of over 70 years of cross party support for the retention of small holdings in the county.

"We now have a council dominated by councillors who come from an urban background and have no understanding how important this issue is to the rural and agricultural communities of this county. This is just the beginning of the hidden policy of the council to get rid of its holdings." said Terry James.
