Herefordshire Businesses demand "End the waste"12.07.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Wed 19th Dec 2007 Lucy Hurds, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for North Herefordshire has today added her support to the Hereford Liberal Democrat campaign to 'end the waste' of the hundreds of businesses across Herefordshire still without any basic kerbside recycling services. Herefordshire Liberal Democrats have been contacted by a number of local businesses demanding such a kerbside recycling service be introduced. Commenting, Sarah Carr said, "The Council has a woeful record on recycling generally, but when it comes to business recycling they set new records of poor performance. The Tory run Herefordshire Council is showing its blatant disregard for protecting our environment and is clearly not taking seriously the threat of climate change. Continuing to dump waste in landfill is not a sustainable solution in today's climate conscious world." "I urge all businesses who are angry at the Council's continued lack of action to get in contact with me and join the campaign to "end the waste". Sarah Carr recently launched a ten point 'Waste Charter' for Herefordshire which calls for extending recycling collections to all households county wide, including glass in kerbside collections and a step change in recycling rates to reach 50% by 2009.
